At Fursac, each jacket reflects the rigorous tailoring expertise built over 50 years of history. The semi-traditional manufacturing we favor for many of our jackets perfectly illustrates our commitment: to offer a structured, comfortable, and durable piece, without ever sacrificing the modernity of the cut.

Structure and comfort at the heart of the jacket

Semi-traditional manufacturing is based on the addition of a canvas (plastron) inserted between the outer fabric and the lining. Extending from the top of the shoulders down to the first button, including the lapel, this canva - or interlining - gives structure to the garment while preserving its flexibility, especially around the upper chest area, which is subject to arm movement.

The first part for the body consists of an assembly of several layers of horsehair canvas, with compositions varying according to the desired finish (wool, linen, and horsehair). It is sewn with invisible stitches that ensure precise and durable interfacing. This technique maintains the fluidity of the drape while guaranteeing perfect shape retention over time.
The second part is found in the lapel; it is assembled by a machine specially dedicated to this operation, stitching multiple invisible points on the back of the lapel. This gives it its characteristic rounded style.

Noble materials, carefully selected

The excellence of our jackets also relies on the rigorous selection of materials. We mainly use fabrics of Italian origin, sourced from renowned mills known for their expertise. The fabrics are made from virgin wool, sometimes blended with other natural fibers such as linen, cotton, silk, and Mohair wool, while minimizing the use of synthetic materials to improve recyclability. Spun from Super 100, 110, and up to Super 150 yarns for certain references, these fabrics are recognized for their fineness and wearing quality.

We also prioritize strict traceability: the wool is tracked at least from the weaving stage, and for several of our references, all the way back to the original breeding farms. This level of transparency guarantees consistent and verifiable quality, while aligning with a responsible approach.

A demanding manufacturing and finishes that make the difference

To ensure maximum durability of our pieces, we limit the use of fusible interlinings to an absolute minimum. Only certain areas (front panels, facings, vents, or sleeve hems) are concerned, and always with very high-quality materials adapted to our fabrics.

Beyond the canvas, our jackets feature essential manufacturing details, often invisible to the untrained eye, but always noticeable in wear and fit:

- The lapel is reinforced with invisible stitches to preserve its break line and flexibility.
- The shoulder is structured with discreet shoulder pads, ensuring the garment’s balance.
- The sleeve head is shaped using sleeve heads (‘cigarettes’), creating a subtle and natural rounded shape.
