Quand et comment porter le nœud papillon

Le nœud papillon entre en scène au XIXe siècle. Appelé « cravate » jusqu’au début du XXe siècle, c’est le succès de « Madame Butterfly », opéra de Giacomo Puccini créé en 1904 que l’on peut littéralement traduire par « Madame Papillon », qui a été à l’origine de son changement de nom.
En effet, à cette époque, les messieurs qui se rendaient à l’opéra portaient une cravate à deux coques dont la forme évoquait celle du papillon et c’est l’engouement suscité par la pièce qui a donné l’idée de rebâptiser ainsi cet accessoire.

Dans sa version plus puriste, le nœud à nouer demande un peu d’entrainement. N’hésitez pas à le pré nouer (ou à demander à un expert de le faire pour vous). Évitez de céder à la tendance de le porter non noué autour du cou, pour un effet « fin de soirée, décontracté ». A moins qu’il ne se fasse vraiment tard et que la soirée touche vers sa fin…
